BORDER CROSSING #2
BORDER CROSSING #2

11/09/2017

What does it mean for you the word border?

It seemed to me that the term "border" represent enough two realities: socials and psychics. It may be also interpreted as a draw mental projection. Border underline paradoxically both, the control and the fragility of the society and her individuals.

How contemporary art helps to pass the borders?

Border and frontieres are more than ever else question in contemporary art. many art statements and philosophy relies on essentials values like mindful freedom, faith and beauty, there's why crossing, passing or abolishing any forme of borders becomes just a part of process.

Borderline is also a term used in psychiatry. Many people, today, are defined borderline. What do you think about?

I think it's a maters of very serious psychiatric term and we have to be very carefull about using it in everyday conversations; Sometimes artistes may be describe as borderline personality, but we cant compare a serious emotion instability and deep disorder witha artiste behavior. Although artists and BPD patients prone to intense vision of reality and cultivates idealistic enthusiasm, the critical sense and sublimation of creative processes belongs only to the mentally sane subjects.

THE CROSSING is a novel written by Cormac McCarthy in 1994 and set along the border region between Mexico and USA. What do you think about the new political course of the world governed by the right wing?

Today we are all unfortunately facing an increase of not only conservative and reactionary movements in europe and states but also extreme-right wings. We all have a part of responsibility regarding this situation: politics, intelletuals, artists, searcher, activist, and all kind of thinkers. So i beleive we need to bring into a light more questions of disorder of distribution of wealth i the world, of non-equal acces to edutation, and environmental consequences of a non eco-friendly commerce.I beleive its our obligation to strive against the inept and excessive materialism of neolyberal capitalism in order to protect our progeny.

What do you think about our exhibition and its artistic goal?

To enhance the interest and foster a deserved recognition of fiber art as autonomous medium in fields of contemporary art. To showcase a wide range of textile and fibers conception and creations, but also the emergency to reveal a political, social and ethical inherent meaning of our contemporary enchanted and disenchaned world.
